Moticap
Privacy Policy
Effective: 14 October 2026
Who we are
Moticap is made by Omni Media And Tech LLC Company, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Moticap website (moticap.com), the Moticap phone app for iPhone and Android, the Moticap Mac app and the Moticap extensions for After Effects, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro, and the Moticap servers they use.
We are responsible for your personal data under the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and, where it applies, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact: privacy@moticap.com.
The short version
- On the Mac and inside your editor, transcription runs on your computer and your video stays there.
- In the phone app, the sound of your video is sent to our servers to be written out word by word. The picture is sent only if you export through our servers.
- The sound we send for transcription is deleted as soon as the transcript is done, video you upload for an export is deleted automatically after 1 day, and videos our servers make for you after 3 days.
- Your projects live on your device. We don’t keep copies of them.
- Face and eye detection for the teleprompter’s eye watch runs on your phone only. Face data never leaves the device.
- No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your personal data.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
This website
The website uses no cookies and no analytics or advertising tools. Like any website, our hosting provider handles technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse. If you email us, we use your address and message to reply.
What we collect and why
What we collect depends on what you use:
- Your account — your email address (when you sign in with an email code, or when Apple or Google shares it; Apple may give a private relay address), the name Apple shares the first time you sign in with Apple, an identifier from Apple or Google for that sign-in, your plan, and when the account was created. Purpose: to sign you in and run your account.
- The waitlist on our website — your email address, the page language, where on the page you signed up, and when. Purpose: one confirmation email, then telling you when we launch. Kept until you remove it with the link in the confirmation email or ask us to delete it.
- Your devices and sessions — a random device identifier made by the app, the device’s name and platform (e.g. “iPhone · ” followed by your device’s name), and when each device was last used. Purpose: to keep you signed in and apply your plan’s device limit. You can remove a device in the app at any time.
- Media for transcription — in the phone app, the sound of your video (with the pauses measured on the phone) is sent to our servers to be transcribed; the result (the words and their times) is sent back to your phone. Purpose: captions.
- Media and settings for export — when a video is finished on our servers (on Android, or when you choose it), the video, your captions, your style settings, your logo and your framing are sent to our servers to make the finished file, which you then download. Purpose: export.
- Look requests — when you describe a caption look or copy one from a picture, your description or the picture you choose is sent to make the look. We don’t keep the text or the picture; we count the request.
- Look and edit suggestions — for a new video the app suggests a caption look and an edit: it sends the transcript, the video’s length and shape, where the face sits, the prices said, the colours of the scene and up to three small still frames of your video (start, middle, end) to our AI provider for that one request. We don’t keep the frames or the text; we count the request. You can turn this off in the app (“Suggest the look automatically”).
- Usage — minutes transcribed and requests made per month and per day, and a record of each transcription or export job (its type, length, settings summary, outcome and any error). Purpose: plan limits, reliability, fixing problems, and understanding how much the service is used.
- Error logs — when something fails on our servers we record the error, and the account it happened to. Purpose: fixing problems.
- Tester reports — only if you are invited to test and press the report button: your text, a screenshot (with any circles you draw), an optional voice note, the app’s recent log lines (sign-in tokens and keys removed on the device and again on the server), app version, device model, system version, free storage, network state and a summary of the open project’s settings (never the video itself). A voice note may be transcribed by our transcription service so we can read it. Purpose: fixing problems and improving the app.
- Notifications — if you allow them, your device’s notification token, the app’s language and your notification choices. Purpose: to tell you when a long job is done or reply to a report.
- Emails — sign-in codes, replies to your reports and, occasionally, news about Moticap. Every news email has an unsubscribe link.
What stays on your device
- Your projects: the videos, the transcripts, your edits, looks, glossaries, logo and settings are saved on your device, not on our servers.
- Camera and microphone are used only while you film. Recordings are saved on your device (and in Photos when you choose).
- Eye watch (off by default) detects your face and eyes on the phone to pause the take when you look away. No face image or face data is sent to us or anyone else.
- Speech recognition while you film (to follow your script and to know where to resume) uses your phone’s built-in speech recognition. For some languages, including Arabic, your phone’s operating system may process that audio on its provider’s servers, under that provider’s own privacy terms. We receive none of it.
- On the Mac and in the editor extensions, transcription runs on your computer.
How long we keep it
- The sound sent from the phone for transcription: deleted as soon as the transcript is done or has failed.
- Video uploaded for an export on our servers: deleted automatically after 1 day.
- Videos made on our servers and their export settings: deleted automatically after 3 days.
- Sign-in codes: valid for 10 minutes, then removed.
- Job records and server error logs: 90 days.
- Tester reports and their files: 180 days, or sooner when you delete your account.
- Daily usage records: about 13 months (400 days); monthly totals while your account exists.
- Your account, devices and sign-in identities: until you delete the account.
- Our hosting provider keeps database backups for up to 30 days, after which deleted data is gone from them too.
Who processes your data
We use service providers who process data only on our instructions, to run Moticap:
- Cloud hosting, database and storage — runs our servers and stores the data described above.
- Cloud AI transcription and language models — turn the sound into words with their times, turn English words written in Arabic letters into English, find the offers said in the video, translate captions when you ask, make caption looks, and suggest a look and an edit for a new video. They receive the sound, the text or the few small frames of your video needed for the request.
- Email delivery — sends sign-in codes and other emails.
- Push notification services of Apple and Google — deliver notifications you allowed.
- App stores — distribute the app and, when subscriptions open, handle payment.
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.
Transfers outside Saudi Arabia
Our service providers operate data centres in several countries, so your data may be processed outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (for example in the European Union or the United States). We use providers that protect data under contract and apply appropriate safeguards, in line with the PDPL and its regulations on transfers, and the GDPR for users in the EU and UK.
Legal bases
We process your data to provide the service you asked for (our contract with you), with your consent where we ask for it (camera, microphone, notifications, tester reports — you can withdraw it at any time), for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and working (error logs, abuse prevention), and where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under the PDPL — and the GDPR if you are in the EU or UK — you can:
- be told how your data is used (this policy);
- access your data and get a copy of it;
- have it corrected or completed;
- have it deleted (see “Deleting your account”);
- withdraw consent you gave;
- in the EU/UK, also object to or restrict processing, and receive your data in a portable format.
Write to privacy@moticap.com from the email on your account (or tell us how you sign in). We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) or, in the EU/UK, to your data protection authority.
Deleting your account
In the phone app: Account → Delete account. You’ll see what will be deleted, then confirm by typing the word shown. Your account, devices, sessions, usage, jobs, uploaded media, exports, notification tokens and tester reports are deleted from our servers at once. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke Moticap’s access.
You can also email privacy@moticap.com and we will delete it for you. Projects and videos on your device are not affected — delete them in the app or from your device. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play must be cancelled in the store; deleting the account does not cancel it.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Sign-in sessions are stored as one-way hashes, provider keys are encrypted, and access to the admin tools is limited to named staff with email codes. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you and the authorities about a breach as the law requires.
Children
Moticap is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to privacy@moticap.com and we will delete it.
Payments
Moticap does not take payments yet. When paid plans open, payment will be handled by the App Store or Google Play; we will receive the subscription’s status, not your card details.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for important changes we will tell you in the app or by email before they apply.
